Tattoos have been around for approximately 5,000 years, with the oldest documented tattoos found on an iceman named Otzi who scientists say lived during 3,300 B.C. Here is some of America’s history with tattoos.
The word “tattoo” originated from an explorer, James Cook, who sailed to Tahiti. In 1769, he heard the natives using the word “tatau” when explaining their body art.
