Saturday, May 9
Corner Market, a small-town market, will hold its official grand opening! The market will begin meeting every second and fourth Saturday of each month. Shop for home-baked goods, uniquely handcrafted items, farm fresh eggs, locally grown produce, free books for children and so much more. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Millennium Park (130 Howard St. W., Live Oak) and will feature over 35 vendors.

The American Legion Harry C. Gray II Memorial Post 107 (10726 142nd St., McAlpin) will be hosting a turkey shoot beginning at 12:30 p.m. Get eight rounds of fun and excitement for only $25 per shooter. Only .12 gauge will be allowed. All ammunition will be provided by Post 107. The contestant closest to the center of the target will win the prize for that round. Prizes range from chicken, beef, pork, ham, turkey or even cash. A minimum of eight shooters is required to hold the event. For more information,

Discover the delicious (and surprisingly healing) plants growing right under your feet with “Edible Weeds: Culinary and Medicinal Benefits” at Hearthstone Botanical Gardens (3300 134th Pl., Wellborn). From backyard “nuisances” to stoop-friendly superstars, this workshop will explore easy-to-grow weeds you can cook with, brew into teas or use for everyday wellness. The Live Oak Public Library (1848 Ohio Ave. S.) will present its “Wellness Made Easy” Community Health Fair. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees will be able to visit the University of Florida Mammography Bus, learn about healthy eating habits, engage in physical activity, and speak with health professionals. Farm Share, a free drive through food distribution event, will take place at six locations in Suwannee County. All distributions will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until all supplies run out. Line up may begin one hour prior to the start of distribution. Participants are limited to two families per vehicle. No ID is required to participate. Distribution locations include: Suwannee County Coliseum (1310 11th St. S.W., Live Oak), Wellborn Community Association (1340 8th Ave., Wellborn), Friendship Baptist Church (14364 140th St., Live Oak), McAlpin Community Center (9981 170th Ter., McAlpin), First Baptist Church of Dowling Park (11274 235th Ln., Dowling Park) and O’Brien Baptist Church (9544 E. C.R. 349, O’Brien).

Calling all senior citizens, Hamilton County 4-H invites you to join their Timeless Treasures event! The event will feature trivia, music, bingo and prizes. Booths with agencies and organizations that serve seniors will also be available. Guests will receive a gift from 4-H youth. Lunch of barbecue chicken with the trimmings will be provided by the Hamilton County High School culinary arts program. Decade-themed activities will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the event will last until noon. Registration is not required, but is helpful for planning. Call 386-792-1276 to register. Hoggtowne Bronze, a community handbell choir from Gainesville consisting of more than 20 members, will perform “Bells on Broadway!” at First Methodist Church of Live Oak (311 Ohio Ave. S.), beginning at 4 p.m. This concert will present an entertaining mix of past and present Broadway favorites. Admission is free.

Join Chick-fil-A of Live Oak (1801 Ohio Ave. N.) from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for Dogs in the Drive-Thru. The first 75 pups to come through will receive a dog treat.

The Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch (1813 Cecil Webb Pl., Live Oak) will be hosting its annual summer Cowboy Camp. This equestrian camp provides youth with an opportunity to learn how to work with and ride horses. Campers will also take part in arts and crafts, woodworking, swimming and hiking. Lunch and snacks will be provided. The cost is $200 per camper or $175 for siblings. Only 16 spaces are available for children ages 8 to 16. The deadline to apply is Monday, June 1. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Jennifer Raulerson, B.S.N., R.N., C.D.P., Board Certified Master Mental Health Coach, will present “Mourning to Morning: The Rise Back to Purpose During Grief” at the Live Oak Public Library (1848 Ohio Ave. S.). This program will be a safe, supportive 90-minute session to better understand grief and learn practical ways to navigate it. The session is open to anyone experiencing loss, and will include gentle teaching and optional reflection. No sharing is required.

Mondays - Thursdays
Mayo Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Third District Community Center (3373 U.S. 27, Mayo). Beginners’ meetings are held on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Open discussion takes place at 10 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. “Big Book Study” takes place on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. For more information, call 386-867-5953.
Tuesdays - Sundays
"You want to drink? That's your business. You want to stop? That's our business." Join Live Oak's Alcoholics Anonymous group to discover a new way of life. Regular Live Oak AA meetings are held each week at 7 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Men-only meetings are held each Sunday at 8 a.m. and are followed by women-only meetings at 4 p.m. The group also holds Al-Anon and AlaTeen meetings every Sunday at 2 p.m., which are open to friends and family of all ages. Each session will be held in the building next to the Suwannee County Health Department (911 Nobles Ferry Rd., Live Oak).
Wednesdays and Thursdays
Let TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) help you with your weight management goals. TOPS is a weight-loss support group with two chapters that meet weekly in Live Oak. The Wednesday chapter meets at 9:15 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church (9989 C.R. 136). The Thursday chapter meets at 9 a.m. at First Advent Christian Church (699 Pinewood Dr. S.W.).
