Although it may seem like summer has only just begun, local school systems are already hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year. One way they're preparing is by helping the less fortunate, and the Suwannee County School District is at the forefront of this effort. “The Back-to-School Bash Committee is enthusiastic about helping our students get ready for the upcoming year,” the school district wrote in a public release. “Our goal is to distribute 1,000 student backpacks filled with school supplies, and we need your help to fill them. In spite of another year of challenges and hardships, we are optimistic, as our community remains resilient and resourceful.”
The district is asking for a couple of different items to fill the backpacks, including:
• 100-count lined notebook paper (wide or college-ruled)
• Crayons
• Pencils
• Pens (black or blue)
• Glue sticks
• Folders (3-pronged with pockets)
• Scissors (round edged)
The 2025 Back-to-School Bash will be held concurrently with the district's Meet Your Teacher events on Thursday, Aug. 7, and Friday, Aug. 8. For those interested in making monetary donations, they can be directed to LOVE, INC., of Suwannee County, located at 120 Ohio Ave., in Live Oak. Their Employer Identification Number is 59-3086192.
