The Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch will celebrate its 68th anniversary with its annual Open House and Horse Show from Friday, Feb. 20, through Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Jim Black Memorial Pavilion in Live Oak.
The event, presented by Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, is open to the public and welcomes horse clubs and individual riders to participate. Activities will include a variety of equestrian competitions, such as pole bending, Texas barrel weave, arena racing, and cloverleaf.
Gates will open at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with games beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday.
Admission to the event is $10 per vehicle, including golf carts and side-by-sides. Event registration is $35 and includes entry to the riding events listed previously. Personal pick-up is available for $20 per team but does not count toward the high-point award.
A side jackpot of $50 per event will be offered for pole bending and clover leaf competitions. Qualifying classes include Small Fry, Junior, Powderpuff/Senior and Jack Benny/Gracie Allen divisions.
Girls’ and boys’ classes will be combined for all events. A warm-up pen will be provided, and all horses must remain at a walk on campus outside of the arena. Coggins papers are required and will be checked before entry.
