Doctors have held an important position in the history of Suwannee County. The frontier life was hard on the early Suwannee Countians, and doctors were often the difference between life and death. Of course, a casual reading of historical remedies and treatments reveals that doctors were equally as likely to kill their patients as they were to save them.
However, besides attending to the medical needs of citizens, doctors often found themselves thrust into positions of business or governmental prominence due to their educational background.
