Remembering Suwannee: Live Oak businesses in 1906-1907

Although part of Suwannee County’s early history was lost when the Suwannee Democrat burned down in about 1904 and again in 1996, there are many snippets of life we can still learn from existing records. One such source of information is the Live Oak Daily Democrat, an abbreviated daily version of the Suwannee Democrat that was published in the first decade of the 20th Century.
Among the various surviving editions is one from Nov. 4, 1907, outlining City of Live Oak business licenses filed beginning in October 1906. This edition gives us a wealth of information about the various businesses that were in Live Oak during this period in our histo
