MLK, Jr. Day of Celebration is approaching

Ady Hammock editor@riverbendnews.org The Suwannee County Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee has announced the date for this year’s MLK, Jr. Day of Celebration. On Monday, Jan. 19, festivities will begin with a parade at 10 a.m., beginning at RIVEROAK Technical College. During the parade, floats (not vehicles) will be judged, and three participants will win first, second and third-place trophies. Immediately following the parade will be the annual MLK Day Church Service at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, located at 411 Parshley St., in Live Oak. Rev. Anthony L. Newton of New Bethlehem A.M.E. Church in McAlpin will provide the service at 11 a.m. Those who wish to participate in the parade
