The Lafayette County School Board met on Tuesday, July 15, for its regularly scheduled meeting, during which the Board members addressed a packed agenda of budget items, personnel matters, policy revisions, and academic performance discussions as the upcoming school year approaches.
Following the adoption of the agenda and approval of the minutes, the Board proceeded to approve the six consent items without requiring much discussion. These included Lafayette Elementary School’s upcoming fundraisers and field trips, along with the school’s Parent & Family Engagement Plan and School Advisory Council members for the 2026-27 year. Also listed under consent items was the approval of a contract between The Florida Learning Alliance, Inc. and the Board to provide a staff development management system, and a memorandum of agreement between the district and the Florida Department of Health for the upcoming school year.
These were followed by the Board’s 16 action items, including the approval of various personnel, the Florida Department of Education Office of Equal Educational Opportunity report for 2024-25, the 2025-26 Mental Health Assistance Allocation Plan, advertisement of the 2025-26 tentative budget, advertisement of 14 policy revisions, the district’s internal accounts procedures for the upcoming year, the Lafayette High School student handbook for the new school year, a bilingual speech language pathologist contract, the removal of items from active inventory, a five-year survey for the new pre-k through 12th grade school, payment of dues for membership to the Florida Association of District School Superintendents, a memorandum of agreement between the district and Department of Health Lafayette and Levy Counties for the School Based Sealant Program, a Career Dual Enrollment Articulation Agreement with the Suwannee County School Board through RIVEROAK Technical College, an updated data sharing agreement with the University of Florida Lastinger Center, and an agreement with Imagine Learning, LLC (formerly Edgenuity) for the upcoming school year.
As there were no budget amendments, the meeting adjourned shortly after these approvals. The next Lafayette County School Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Board chambers of the school district administration building, located at 363 NE Crawford St., in Mayo.
