My name is Billy White, Sr., and I am running for the opportunity to serve the people of District 2 as your next Suwannee County Commissioner.
Since July of 1975 after meeting and happily marrying “the bell of Suwannee High”, Juanita (Crawford) White, our journey in and throughout Suwannee County has been the second best part of my life; (second ONLY to my salvation and faith in Jesus Christ). And in November of 1991, we were blessed with our son, Billy, Jr.; who now shares his life with our amazing daughter-in-love, Monique.
This campaign is not about political titles, empty promises, or putting one group of people ahead of another. It’s about serving the hardworking people who call Suwannee County home. It’s about listening before speaking, being accountable after being elected, and making decisions that protect our communities, our families, our roads, our farms, our businesses, and our future.
Suwannee County is a special place. We are blessed with a proud history, strong faith, hardworking families, productive farmland, local businesses, and neighbors who show up when someone needs help. We value the rural character of our county, and we also recognize that growth, changing needs, and rising costs require responsible leadership.
District 2 deserves a commissioner who will be present, accessible, prepared, and willing to work for EVERY resident – not only during election season, but every day after the election.
I am running because I believe local government works best when it is close to the people. A county commissioner should not be distant from the concerns of the community. Commissioners should be approachable. They should return calls. They should welcome questions. They should explain decisions clearly. And even when citizens disagree with a decision, they still deserve to be heard with respect.
The families of Suwannee County are facing real concerns. Many residents are concerned about the condition of county roads, drainage, traffic safety, property taxes, responsible development, emergency services, infrastructure, and the cost of living. These are issues that affect whether a parent can get to work safely, whether an elderly resident can access needed services, whether a small business can grow, and whether a family can remain in the community they love.
As your next County Commissioner, I will work to make sure taxpayer dollars are handled with discipline, transparency, and common sense. Every dollar collected from the public carries responsibility. County government must distinguish between what is necessary and what is just convenient. We need strong financial oversight, clear priorities, competitive purchasing practices, and honest communication about how public funds are being used.
Our county can grow without losing the values that make it worth calling home. We can support job creation while protecting private property rights. We can encourage business investment while preserving the character of our rural communities. We can plan for the future without ignoring the people who built this county and continue to sustain it.
I believe that public safety must remain a central priority. Law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, dispatchers, and all first responders deserve leaders who respect their service and provide the support necessary for them to protect the public. In times of emergency, citizens need to know that county government is prepared, responsive, and working together.
Another priority is strengthening communication
between county government and the public. Too often, people feel they hear about important decisions after those decisions have already been made. I believe that residents deserve timely information, understandable explanations, and meaningful opportunities to participate. Public meetings should be accessible, county decisions should be clear, and questions should receive answers.
I will not claim to have every answer. No commissioner can solve every challenge alone. But I will bring a willingness to listen, study the facts, ask hard questions, seek practical solutions, and work respectfully with fellow commissioners, county staff, community leaders, and citizens across our county. Leadership is not about getting credit; leadership is about accepting responsibility.
The future of District 2 and Suwannee County will be shaped by the choices we make now. We need leadership that respects our past, addresses today’s needs, and prepares responsibly for tomorrow. We need leaders who will protect taxpayers, support public safety, maintain infrastructure, encourage responsible growth, and keep the voices of local residents at the center of county government.
I am running for County Commissioner because I love this community, I believe in its people, and I want to help ensure that Suwannee County remains a place where families can live, work, worship, raise their children, build businesses, and enjoy a better future.
I respectfully ask for your support, your prayers, your ideas, and your vote. Together, we can build a county government that is responsible, responsive, and worthy of the people it serves.
Please vote for Billy White, Sr. – “Suwannee’s Choice For The People’s Voice.”
