During the regular meeting of the White Springs Town Council on Tuesday, Jan. 13, debate ensued over whether the town would request wages paid to former Councilwoman Shirley Aldridge back from her. During the last three months, Aldridge had been absent while continuing to receive pay totaling $1,385.25.
After an amended version of a resolution introduced at the special town council meeting on Monday, Jan. 5, was read, Town Attorney Leslie Jean-Bart acknowledged that Aldridge was not present to appeal the board’s decision at the regular meeting. Jean-Bart also stated Aldridge had not responded to the council’s attempts to contact her.
