A new Dollar General is under construction along U.S. Highway 129 in O’Brien and is expected to open later this year.
The 10,640-square-foot store is being built at 22804 U.S. 129 on approximately 2.63 acres in O’Brien. According to marketing materials from Fortis Net Lease, the location is expected to open in November of this year.
The O’Brien location will be a Dollar General Plus, which is a larger-format version of a traditional Dollar General.
Traditional Dollar General stores primarily carry everyday necessities, such as dry foods, a selection of refrigerated items, household supplies, cleaning products, health and beauty items and seasonal merchandise.
Dollar General Plus stores offer a wider range of merchandise, including additional refrigerated and frozen foods and, at some locations, produce and other items. It is similar to a DG Market, which has a greater emphasis on grocery items (fresh produce and meats).
Riverbend News reached out to the Suwannee County Economic Development Office for additional information about the project and its anticipated economic impact, but did not receive a response by press time.
