Wanted sexual predator turns himself in

Convicted sexual predator Samuel Dillon Free, who absconded from probation, turned himself in at the Suwannee County Jail on Friday, Jan. 16, at approximately 7:50 a.m.
Free, 42, had absconded in 2021 after failing to report to probation officers, which is a requirement of sex offender probation. For nearly seven years, Free flew under the radar. While doing so, investigators with the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) sought help from the public to assist in apprehending Free.
“He is a very dangerous individual,” Investigator J.R. Smith told Riverbend News in its Nov. 11, 2024, edition.
