On Thursday, Feb. 27, the Hamilton County Trojans hosted the Jefferson County Tigers for a baseball showdown. The game started off hot for the Trojans, as they scored three points in the first inning. Meanwhile, the Tigers were unable to get any runners across home plate. The second inning was similar; the Trojans scored another two points, while the Tigers were unable to make it on the board. The third and fourth inning were a total deadlock, as neither team was able to make advancements on the score board. The fifth inning helped the Trojans pull their lead even farther, scoring two more points. Tired after an intense game, the Trojans began to slow down. The Tigers took advantage of this in the sixth inning, scoring two points, then one other point in the seventh. However, it wasn't enough for them to beat the Trojans, who won the game 7-3.
There were plenty of standout Trojans during the game. Reily Hearn, Dyllan Grant, Braxton Stormant, Sebastian Tordsen, Nathan Wheeler, Joshua Garcia and Ryan Moody all made it across home plate, scoring points for their team. Jacob Luckette was able to bring two runners home off of his one hit. Cody Doolittle reigned supreme in put-outs, with a total of 15. Hearn was the standout pitcher for the evening as well. He had 13 strikeouts throughout the game. The Trojans' next home game will be on Thursday, March 6, at 6 p.m.
