On Friday, March 28, the Hamilton County High School (HCHS) Trojans baseball team hosted the Gadsden County Jaguars for a showdown on the diamond. Not only were the boys there to play a game of baseball, but the night was also memorable as they took the time to celebrate the seniors on the team.
The Trojans started off the game with a bang, scoring two runs in the first inning. The Jaguars found themselves unable to compete, a trend that lasted the entire game. In the second inning, the Trojans scored another eight points, and in the third inning, five more runners made it across home plate. The game came to a close with a dominating 15-0 Trojan victory, making Senior Night doubly special.
Two of the boys were the true stars of the show that night, seniors Sebastian Tordsen and Cody Doolittle. “What an unforgettable night for HCHS Varsity Baseball,” said Julianne Salamone, mother of Tordsen. “A dominant 15-0 win on Senior Night, and Sebastian delivered a performance to remember. Eight strikeouts on the mound and going two for three at the plate, sealing the game with the final RBI (run batted in). It's the kind of moment every senior dreams of – the perfect game, the one they’ll talk about for decades and share with their sons one day. A night of hard work, heart and memories that will last a lifetime. I'm grateful for all the wonderful people, fans and families for making tonight such a success.” Doolittle also had a stupendous evening. He had three plate appearances, with two of them ending with him crossing home plate. On top of that, he was able to bat in another of his teammates for a third point. He also stole two bases and, while defending, completed a total of eight outs.
