Trial to begin in Sweetpea animal cruelty case

Jason Futch Reporter2@riverbendnews.org Eric Ivan Roldan, the man accused of abusing a puppy in March 2025, is set to go before Circuit Judge Mark Feagle on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 9 a.m. at the Suwannee County Courthouse.  The case made national news after the puppy, known as Sweetpea, suffered severe injuries as a result of abuse. During the initial investigation, Roldan was arrested by Live Oak Police Department officers at a laundromat and taken to the Suwannee County Jail, where he has remained since being charged for his alleged role in the incident.  Since the incident, the Livin’ Like Larry Farm Sanctuary has been caring for Sweetpea, who has undergone multiple surgeries a
