Tropical Storm Bertha is a good reminder that if you haven’t gotten hurricane season supplies, now is the time! The recommendation for water is one (1) gallon of water per person or pet per day for at least three days. More is better in this case.
What kind of containers should I use?
If you must prepare your own water containers, purchase food-grade water storage containers. Avoid using milk containers because they can be hard to clean.
Bacteria can grow quickly in a milk container, contaminating the water it stores.
Use containers that were previously used to store beverages, such as 2-liter soft drink bottles or containers designed to hold drink
