Jeremiah 6:16 reads, “Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” This is where the quartet, The Old Paths, got their name. The group originally started in 2003 with founding members, Douglas Roark and Tim Rackley. The group quickly changed into a quartet and were signed to Crossroads Music’s Sonlite Records in 2012. Their music quickly began exceeding expectations; their album, “Right Now,” gave them two number one hit songs: “Battlestand” and “God’s Great.”
Although the group decided to stop performing in 2015 due to personal reasons, they left the door open for a return, and that encore has happened. In 2017, “God opened that door,” their website says. They returned to the stage in the Memphis Quartet Show in June 2017 and have been performing ever since. The goal of the group is “to see people come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and to encourage fellow believers.”
On Saturday, Feb. 4, the famed quartet will be making their way to Mount Olive Baptist Church. They will perform a concert for attendees, starting at 6 p.m. that evening. Anyone is welcome to join. There will also be a love offering if anyone is interested in donating. Mount Olive Baptist Church can be found at 5314 98th Ter., in Live Oak.
