The Suwannee River Breast Cancer Awareness Association, Inc. (SRBCAA) will be hosting an Open Bass Fishing Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Sandy Point, located at 29685 59th Dr., in Branford, beginning at safe light until 3 p.m. It is an opportunity for fishermen and women from across North Florida to win big while raising money for a good cause. The SRBCAA has announced that the top 10 catches will be guaranteed cash prizes, with the first-place winner earning $5,000, while 10th place will receive $450. A big bass will also give participants an opportunity to win big. For every boat that enters, $10 of the fee will go towards the Big Bass Pot, plus $500 from the SRBCAA. The Big Bass Pot will guarantee a 100 percent payout. Each boat entry costs $100 to take part in the fishing tournament. The SRBCAA stated that during the tournament, the Waccasassa and Steinhatchee Rivers are off-limits to fishing. To pre-register, visit www.suwanneeawareness.com. For more information about the tournament and learn more about additional rules, contact Donnie Feagle at (386) 365-1191. All proceeds raised at the tournament will go toward the SRBCAA’s mission in its fight against cancer.
