The Suwannee Missionary Baptist Association is asking community members to help encourage a local pastor who is currently serving on a year-long military deployment.
Pastor Michael Hornback of Brewer Lake Baptist Church in Mayo is deployed while serving as an Army chaplain.
The Suwannee Missionary Baptist Association’s Encourage Team is asking individuals of all ages – “children, youth and senior adults” – to write letters or draw pictures for Hornback and the troops serving alongside him.
“We would like to encourage him, as he is far away from his church and family dealing with troops in very trying circumstances,” the association wrote in its newsletter.
Letters and drawings should be delivered to the Suwannee Missionary Baptist Association office, located at 1747 Walker Ave. S.W., in Live Oak, by Thursday, Sept. 17.
The association is also asking community members to pray for Hornback and the troops during their deployment.
