Suwannee/Lafayette Retired Educators Association receive proclamation

Christian Peterson reporter@riverbendnewsnews.org In 1954, the Florida Education Association (FEA) saw a small group begin organizing within it, calling themselves the Retired Teachers of Florida. Then, in 1971, the Retired Teachers of Florida broke away from the FEA, renaming themselves as the Florida Retired Teachers Association. After more discussion, they renamed themselves the Florida Retired Educators Association (FREA) in an effort to include all employees of Florida public schools.
