State tries to clear confusion over new license plate law

Confusion continues to exist over a new state law that makes it a criminal offense to cover any part of a vehicle’s license plate, whether the obstruction is intentional or unintentional.
Motorists’ confusion over the new law has been exacerbated by uneven enforcement of
the law across the state, with reports of motorists being cited for the merest obstruction of their plates and one South Florida man wrongly arrested because the letter S in “Sunshine State” on his rental car’s license plate was partially covered by the license frame.
