On Friday morning, Jan. 31, drivers encountered a unique delay due to a sinkhole that had opened in the middle of the roadway the previous afternoon in O'Brien. The sinkhole formed at the intersection of U.S. Highway 129 and County Road 349 East, leading deputies from the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office to assist in directing traffic around the area. Although the road was not completely closed, motorists experienced minor delays as repairs were made. By the end of the day, the sinkhole had been sufficiently sealed, allowing drivers to pass over the roadway once again.
