Residents of the Third Judicial Circuit who may be eligible to seal or expunge their criminal records will have an opportunity to receive assistance during a free legal clinic scheduled on Thursday, March 26.
The clinic will take place at the Third Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office, located at 105 Ohio Ave. S, in Live Oak and is being hosted by the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL), Third Judicial Circuit Chapter.
The event aims to help individuals navigate the process of sealing or expunging criminal history records through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the State Attorney’s Office. Attorneys will be available on-site to answer questions, review eligibility and assist with applications.
General eligibility requirements under Florida law include having been arrested in Florida, having no open or pending criminal cases and never having been adjudicated guilty of a crime. Individuals must also have completed all terms of probation, if applicable, and must not owe any outstanding fines, fees, court costs or restitution. Additionally, applicants must not have previously sealed or expunged a record. Additional requirements may apply.
Registration is required to participate, and attendees must bring a valid form of identification. Notaries will be available on site to assist with completing necessary paperwork.
The clinic is sponsored by Kyle McLeod Attorney at Law and Rickerson Legal, P.A.
