Law enforcement officers and community members from Suwannee, Hamilton and Lafayette Counties participated in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics during the early weeks of April.
The torch run is a global effort to support Special Olympics, which began in 1981. Each year, the run involves more than 100,000 law enforcement members. While running, someone from the group is tasked with holding the torch which represents the “Flame of Hope.” The movement represents the courage and effort to build a world where all people are accepted and respected.
