Remembering Suwannee: R. P. Hopkins

One story that has been passed on, however, I have found quite humorous since learning about it several years ago. But first, some background information on the man in question... Richard Parkhill Hopkins was born on Oct. 23, 1870, in Tallahassee, apparently the youngest of nine children of Arvah and Susan (Branch) Hopkins. He married Irene Stanley (born 1875) on Jan. 29, 1901, in Goldsboro, N.C.
