Each generation, we lose stories and anecdotes of those who have lived before us, as very few are written down or passed on. One story that has been passed on, however, I have found quite humorous since learning about it several years ago. But first, some background information on the man in question...
Richard Parkhill Hopkins was born on Oct. 23, 1870, in Tallahassee, apparently the youngest of nine children of Arvah and Susan (Branch) Hopkins. He married Irene Stanley (born 1875) on Jan. 29, 1901, in Goldsboro, N.C.
