In the record of American missionary history, few names stand out as brightly as Lottie Moon. Charlotte Digges Moon was born in 1840 in Albemarle County, Va. She grew up in a well-educated and prominent Southern family. Known among family and friends for her sharp mind, lively spirit and strong sense of justice, she developed an early love for learning, reading and exploring the world beyond her hometown.
