“Record-breaking” data leak exposes 16 billion passwords

According to a report from researchers at Cybernews, nearly 16 billion login credentials have been found in public datasets online, resulting in "one of the largest data breaches in history."
The compromised credentials—linked to sites including Google, Facebook, Apple, Telegram and even government platforms—were discovered in 30 exposed datasets Cybernews analysts say were compiled from years of cyberattacks. The data trove doesn't stem from one single breach but rather appears to be a cumulative result of multiple incidents, likely executed by malicious software known as "infostealers."
