Hamilton County lost a brave young woman in Hamilton County High School (HCHS) teacher Raven Merine. Her story brought attention to the tragedy of breast cancer. It also showed the resilience fighters like her endure. Her students and school family stood together to support her.
Last year, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Riverbend News highlighted Merine’s story. It brought awareness to triple-negative breast cancer. While there are various types, triple-negative is known as the most aggressive subtype. It often has the worst prognosis due to early recurrence, faster progression and a lack of targeted therapies compared to others.
