Rabies alert sent out in Suwannee County

The Suwannee County Department of Health has issued a rabies alert for Suwannee County following the confirmation of a rabies case. According to a public release from the department, this is, "in response to a confirmed case of rabies in a fox that was killed in the Live Oak area off 76th Street in Suwannee County on June 30, 2025. DOH Suwannee is monitoring rabies among wild animals in the area. All residents and visitors should be aware that rabies is currently present in the wild animal population."
