Quick-thinking resident foils scam attempt; suspect arrested

The daughter of an elderly Live Oak resident acted fast when she suspected her mother was being taken advantage of in the amount of $20,000. As a result, Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Deputy Justin Dalton apprehended a suspect who had been running large amounts of currency for an unknown group of individuals and who may be tied to a larger fraud investigation.
According to the arrest report, on Monday, Oct. 4, at approximately 9:21 a.m., Deputy Dalton was dispatched to a Live Oak residence on 76th Street in reference to a fraud case involving an 87 year old woman. When Deputy Dalton arrived, the victim's daughter advised that
