Pioneer Day returns to applause

Christian Peterson reporter.riverbendnews@gmail.com On Saturday, Oct. 11, a massive crowd surged through downtown Mayo for the annual Pioneer Day festivities, hosted by the Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce. This celebration has been going on for years and is a highlight for the Town of Mayo and the surrounding community. A parade down Main Street first greeted attendees. Horses, floats, zero-turn lawnmowers, trucks and more drove down the road, tossing candy, waving and enjoying the parade just as much as those watching. Once the parade had come to a close, the festival-goers began making their way to Veterans' Memorial Park. Vendors filled the park. Local businesses, employers and
