Pine Grove Church brought the Old West to life the week of Monday, July 7, during its annual Vacation Bible School, welcoming attendees of all ages to “Wonder Junction,” a faith-based experience filled with worship and fun.
The program, led by Pastor Richard Banks and a team of dedicated volunteers, took place each evening in a western-themed journey through key moments in Jesus Christ’s life. The week-long event combined lessons with plenty of hands-on activities and entertainment, inviting attendees of all ages to board the train of faith for a unique way to “marvel at Jesus” and “live for His glory.”
Things kicked off each evening with a delicious dinner, allowing families and newcomers alike the opportunity to connect. Participants then embarked through a wild frontier by visiting various stations featuring Bible teachings, memory verse challenges, science experiments, crafts, music and even outdoor games.
One of the most popular features was the ongoing skit series starring the “Bumbling Bandits”—Dalton Clyde and Nettie Zelma—whose comedic mishaps provided both laughter and lessons about forgiveness and transformation.
In addition to youth programs, Pine Grove Church also hosted a teen and adult class of 30 individuals, which provided a space for open discussion, questions and personal reflections on faith.
“Wonder Junction” ended on Friday, July 11, at which time Pastor Banks extended his gratitude to all the staff and volunteers who helped make the week a success.
Although the VBS came to an end, Pine Grove Church continues to invite the community to attend its Sunday services at 10:45 a.m., with coffee and snacks available at 10 a.m. Additionally, youth and children’s clubs are available every Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m.
Pine Grove Church is located at 17707 180th St., in Live Oak.
