Pedestrian fatally struck in Columbia County

Danny Federico  reporter3.riverbendnews@gmail.com A 54-year-old Lake City man was killed on Thursday, July 28, after being struck by a vehicle while walking along County Road 240. According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) press release, at approximately 6:20 p.m., the man was walking west in the westbound lane of County Road 240 when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle traveling in the same direction. The SUV, driven by a 24-year-old woman from Mayo, stopped on the northern grassy shoulder of the roadway following the collision. The driver was not injured during the incident. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
