Details surrounding a cyberattack on the City of Live Oak last year emerged after a year of questions.
During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Live Oak City Council discussed details of the attack, including information on the investigative process presented by Live Oak Police Department (LOPD) Captain Jason Rountree. He explained how investigators traced the fraudulent activity that ultimately led to the city losing $472,386.99. According to Rountree, the money was insured and a majority of the funds were later returned to the city.
