The Suwannee County Martin Luther King Jr. Committee will be holding its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Celebration on Monday, Jan. 19, in Live Oak.
Pete Sneed will serve as grand marshal for the parade, and Lila Udell has been named honorary grand marshal.
The annual parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with line-up starting at 9 a.m. at RIVEROAK Technical College. This year's theme is "Building a Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way."
Immediately following the parade, the community is invited to attend the annual MLK Day church service at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, located at 411 Parshley St., in Live Oak. Reverend Jeffrey Graham will preside over the service. The guest speaker will be Reverend Anthony L. Newton, pastor of New Bethleham A.M.E. Church in McAlpin.
