Mayo Masons continue tradition of supporting education

Stanley Swam Contributor The Mayo Masonic Lodge recently awarded its annual scholarship and its “Adopt A Teacher” award for the 2025 school year. Elder Santiago, a 2025 graduate of Lafayette High School, was this year’s scholarship recipient. Santiago is pursuing his goal of becoming a nationally certified surgical technician through enrollment at RIVEROAK Technical College in Live Oak. Katie Pearson is this year’s recipient of the Lodge’s “Adopt A Teacher” award. The award provides financial assistance to new teachers to offset some of the expenses of setting up a classroom. Pearson is a second-grade teacher who is beginning her first full year with Lafayette Elementary
