Mayo man injured in Taylor County crash

Danny Federico [email protected] A 55-year-old Mayo man was left in serious condition after his sport utility vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in Taylor County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred at approximately 5:09 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, on State Road 51 at Mailbox Road, approximately one mile east of U.S. Highway 19. The FHP reported the man was traveling west on State Road 51 when, for unknown reasons, his SUV crossed the center line, traveled across the eastbound lane and entered a ditch on the south side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree head-on and overturned onto its right side before coming to rest facing east.
