By now, many county residents have probably received in their mail a petition from Smart and Safe Florida asking for the recipient's signature to endorse a constitutional amendment legalizing the personal use of marijuana by adults.
Months after a similar measure was defeated at the polls, proponents of the legalization of recreational marijuana are reviving the effort, with a goal of putting the amendment back on the ballot in the 2026 mid-elections. The revised amendment proposal reportedly addresses certain criticisms leveled against the original amendment by opponents, such as Gov. DeSantis.
