On Tuesday, Dec. 17, Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies arrested a man who allegedly pulled a knife on someone during a heated argument in O’Brien. At approximately 7:11 p.m., SCSO Deputy Peter Merola responded to a request for service at a residence located in O’Brien. When Deputy Merola arrived at the residence, he made contact with the victim, who was not identified by name in the reports due to Marsy’s Law. However, she was identified as the girlfriend of the suspect, who was identified as 27-year-old New Jersey native Alijah Maurice Moyer. The victim stated that she and Moyer, who lived together at the residence, were engaged in a verbal altercation. During the altercation, Moyer allegedly grabbed a steak knife out of the kitchen and came from behind her with the knife in a downward motion toward her neck. According to the victim, Moyer said that he was going to “jail” her while pointing the knife at her throat. She believed that Moyer was going to kill her and had a well-founded fear that he would hurt her. Moyer was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was transported to the Suwannee County Jail and has been held on no bond due to a domestic violence hold.
