Facing trials because of our faith can seem like a heavy burden. Like the first-century Christians, we need encouragement to endure those difficult times. Peter wrote to encourage the Christians to see that these trials were testing their faith and, if they overcame them, there was a great reward (1 Peter 1:6, 7).
The testing of our faith may come from a variety of people. In the Old Testament, God tested Abraham’s faith when He instructed Abraham to sacrifice his son. Satan tested the faith of Job (not God). Both men withstood their tests, and God rewarded them for their faithfulness.
