Carlton McPeak Guest Columnist When Peter wrote about the mercy of our great God and Father, he said that God “has caused us to be born again” (1 Peter 1:3). In order to understand this statement, we should take a closer look at the word “cause,” asking the question, “How does God cause one to be born again?” Looking at the definition of the verb “cause,” we see it means to bring something about. But, “Who produces the rebirth or one to be born again?” Looking at the noun form, we see it means “the person who makes something happen.” So, how does God cause us, or produce in us, the action of being born again?
