After making comments about a man's and a woman’s attitudes within the marriage, Paul continues his discussion of household relationships. Still focusing on attitudes, Paul speaks to the interrelationship between the child, parent and father (Colossians 3:20-21).
Defining the word “children” should not be necessary, but we must in order to clear up some misunderstandings. It is a plural word, signifying a group, from the root word “child,” meaning one born from their mother, a female. A single individual who fits the definition of a child, either from physical birth or adoption, is to be obedient to their parents.
