The Live Oak Public Library will host a health fair for the community on Monday, March 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with local health professionals about various topics, including healthy eating habits, physical activity and free health screenings. Additionally, the University of Florida Mammography Bus will be available. However, pre-registration is required, and an application must be submitted. Applications can be picked up and submitted at the library during the pre-registration process. The Suwannee County UF/IFAS Extension Office will also be participating. The Extension will be offering a Health and Wellness Series on diabetes at 11 a.m. and on high blood pressure at noon. Free blood pressure cuffs and blood sugar monitors will be available. AquiferWatch will be providing free well water screening for nitrate and salinity. If collecting water for screening, please do the following: run your tap for three minutes, rinse a clean container and lid three times before filling, bring at least three cups of water in the container and put the container on ice. Collect the water the same day you bring it, preferably right beforehand. For more information, contact the Live Oak Public Library at (386) 362-2314 or email srrlref@neflin.org.
