A Live Oak man was arrested on Sunday, May 31, by the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) following an investigation into the death of a domestic cat.
According to a report from the SCSO, Joshua Carl Brooks, 40, was accused of intentionally killing a cat that had been entrusted to his care. The report said multiple witnesses reported that Brooks had shot the cat with a pellet gun in January. Statements remained consistent from several witnesses. Investigators also located corroborating evidence and received sworn statements.
“When questioned by deputies, Brooks denied harming the cat and claimed the animal had run away,”
