Showing the power of modern police technology, Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies apprehended a Marion County man with outstanding warrants in Bradford County on Tuesday, April 15. SCSO Corporal Roger Howard and Deputy Tyler Harmon were on patrol in the Branford area when they turned on their License Plate Reader (LPR). While utilizing the LPR, the deputies hit on a plate that provided the information that reported the vehicle belonged to a man who had an outstanding warrant. The vehicle, which belonged to 37-year-old McIntosh resident Troy Allen Gignac, was parked in the Family Dollar Parking lot. Deputy Harmon blocked Gignac’s car, and both he and Corporal Howard made contact with Gignac and apprehended him. During a search of Gignac’s vehicle, the deputies discovered 36 grams of meth, a small amount of cocaine, and a loaded handgun. Gignac, who is a convicted felon, was wanted for trafficking methamphetamine and was unlawfully in possession of a firearm. Gignac was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of drug equipment. He is being held at the Suwannee County Jail on no bond due to his Bradford County warrant.
