LCSO to support students through Lonny Hempstead Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) recently announced that the Lonny Hempstead Memorial Scholarship Fund will be able to support two more students from Lafayette High School (LHS) who are pursuing a career through a certificate-based training program.
According to Donna Dennis, administrative assistant to Sheriff Brian Lamb, the scholarship began three years ago in memory of Lt. Lonny Hempstead, who passed away in 2021 from COVID-19 complications. The selection committee consists of employees from the LCSO and one member of Lt. Hempstead’s family.
LCSO employees may participate in payroll deduction for the scholarship. To
