On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the Lafayette High School (LHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter competed in Districts at the First Methodist Church in Mayo. The competition consisted of both middle and high school students, who showcased their talents in the three different event types available. The production of student-made documents or graphics, the demonstration of speeches and presentations, and objective testing (held on-site during a school day) are all types of competitions open for student participation. Each contest prepares students for the future by allowing them to earn lifelong social and career skills.
LHS took on fierce competition from high schools in Bell, Columbia, Trenton and Hamilton, along with Bell Middle School. This year, District 5 had an amazing turnout with 144 teams, with 90 eligible for state; this is the biggest group LHS has ever had! Lafayette FBLA is proud to announce that 31 of its members will advance to the state competition, which will be held in Orlando in March. We wish those competing the best of luck!
