Lafayette Elementary School celebrates year-end achievements

Danny Federico [email protected] Lafayette Elementary School (LES) hosted an end-of-year celebration on Monday, May 18, at the Alton Church of God Family Life Center, recognizing student tutors, the district teacher of the year and retiring staff members. Faculty, staff, student tutors and their families gathered for a picnic-style meal featuring fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans and desserts. Principal Lisa Newman welcomed attendees and explained how the student tutor program brought high school students into elementary classrooms on a daily basis through the UF Lastinger Center program.
