John Lacy DuBose, 72, of Lake City, passed away on Monday morning, April 21, 2025 at his residence, after an extended illness. He was born in MacClenny, Florida on February 14, 1953 to the late Charles Henry and Lillian McCormick DuBose. He has made Lake City his home most of his life and was of the Baptist Faith. He worked for many years with the Lake City Police Department, retiring in 2008 as a Major. He was a member of the Low Pro Hunting Club, and in his spare time, also enjoyed fishing. He is preceded in death by his sister, Martha Hill. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Frances DuBose of Lake City; daughters, Donna Loadholtz (Dennis) of Sanderson and Lacey DuBose of MacClenny; step-daughters, Lisa Hunter (Wesley) of Lake City and Kim Fortner (Jerry) of Live Oak. Ten grandchildren and his two sisters, Lillie Christian of Texas and Grace Conner of Glen St. Mary also survive. A Memorial Gathering for Major DuBose will be held on Thursday evening, May 1, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will hold a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Lake City Humane Society.
