“Get ready to say Beetlejuice three times – because he’s coming to the stage,” Hamilton County High School (HCHS) Performing Arts posted on social media, announcing its spring performance will be Beetlejuice Jr. “Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole ‘being dead thing,’” the musical synopsis reads. “Lucky for Lydia, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes, unleashing a (Nether) world of pandemonium.” Based off the book written byScott Brown and Anthony King and the hit movie, the performance will feature music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect. “You’ll laugh, scream (just a little) and be amazed by this spooky-fun, high-energy show put on by our talented cast,” the school said in a Facebook post. There will be two performances, one on Friday, May 2, at 6 p.m. and one on Saturday, May 3, at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for students. The performances will be held in the HCHS auditorium located at 5683 US 129, in Jasper. “You won’t want to miss this hauntingly hilarious night of theatre!”
